Frontend Engineer

Weather Decision Technologies, Inc. (WDT) is seeking a frontend engineer to join the WeatherOps development team. You will be working with a tight-knit group of engineers and developers building the next generation weather visualization products and tools on the web. WDT is a Norman-based weather company focused on providing world class, decision support tools and products to a wide range of consumers and weather sensitive industries around the globe.


  • Development for the WeatherOps Product: WeatherOps is a SaaS product built for weather risk mitigation. You will be a part of a team building new features and improving the current system.
  • High level communication with stakeholders: The products you build impact a great number of individuals and corporations. You should be comfortable in communicating with internal and external stakeholders on new product features.
  • Create wireframes/mockups of new features: Sketch, Photoshop or whatever design application you like should be just as important to you as your text editor.


  • An eye for design: You should want to make things look better. You should also have the skills to create or sketch designs to share your ideas on how to make things look better.
  • Ability to create readable JavaScript: The web services team collaborates together on many different projects. You should be able to create applications that are both readable and easy to understand for other developers.
  • An understanding of performance and scale: You should be able to create web applications with security, speed, and scalability in mind.
  • Interest/Experience in the entire stack: We are building a lot of nodejs applications and you might need to create some new endpoints to test the UI you just built.
  • An open source user: We are focused in utilizing open-source software to solve some of the complicated tasks put in front of us. You should be comfortable in utilizing and/or improving open source software in order to find solutions to fit our development needs.
  • Passion about documentation and unit testing: Alright, so it’s not that exciting, but ability to create documentation and unit tests for JavaScript is a plus

Development Services Engineer – Full-time

Weather Decision Technologies is seeking talented information technology professionals to join the I.T. Operations team located in Norman, Oklahoma. This service oriented group is responsible for maintaining IT and cloud based services, network infrastructure, storage systems and end user devices for the company – and reports to the Vice President of Operations.

The Development Services Engineer is a key focal point for deploying and maintaining datacenter and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud based systems in coordination with developers and solutions architects. The position serves at the IT interface to development and engineering resources, and acts as administrators of all automated continuous development platforms maintained by the Operations team. Additionally, routine maintenance of associated production infrastructure is included as part of this role. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills as the applicant will serve as a key deployment role for companywide projects.

Candidates must demonstrate technical expertise in developing and maintaining applications on the AWS platform, and utilize continuous integration software from various vendors to be considered for eligibility. Validated success in designing and deploying scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems on AWS is preferred. Special consideration will be given to candidates with backgrounds in geosciences and meteorology.

Excellent verbal communication skills, professional mannerism and effectiveness in dealing with high stress situations are advisable.

Demonstrated ability to deploy, configure and manage Linux and Ubuntu based instance on server hardware and AMI’s in the AWS environment. Requirement
Demonstrated understanding of AWS services and management technologies including SQS, SNS, RDS, Aurora, S3, EFS and IAM. Requirement
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve degraded or unbootable system states due to, disk capacity issues, network filesystem mount problems, system compromise, auto scaling failures and application misconfiguration. Requirement
Understands how to manage JAVA, Node, PHP and Python based applications and associated services running on Linux based operating systems. Essential
Understands how to manage AWS systems configuration and management API’s via programmatic interfaces; can utilize scripting languages and interpret configuration data in standardized formats. Essential
Understands various Open source continuous integration technologies including Chef, Bamboo or Jenkins; can install and configure various packages using command line tools and installers on Linux based systems. Essential
Ability to effectively utilize whiteboards and software tools such as Microsoft Visio or Atlassian Confluence to author diagrams of web service offerings and interconnected components; communicates via written material to company stakeholders. Ideal

Effective employees in this position can expect elevation to Senior Development Services Engineer with commensurate adjustments in salary and increasing levels of responsibility based on annual performance reviews comprising of continuous above average to exceptional ratings from the employees supervisor. Sales Associate

WDT seeks enthusiastic, career-minded, self-motivated individuals to work in a professional business-to-business sales environment as Junior and Senior Business Development Managers.  You will join a sales team responsible for aggressively building revenue in WDT’s WeatherOps and SkyWise product lines.

Requires outbound lead development and cold calling efforts. In addition to responding to customer inquiries, you will also conduct outbound prospecting by creating targeted lists and campaigns to identify and develop a customer base. Successful candidates will have knowledge of sales processes associated with selling software as a service solutions, performing sales of technology-based solutions and a bonus would be experience or knowledge selling weather services in a B2B environment.
