Senior GIS Developer

WDT is seeking a highly motivated, Senior GIS Developer to serve as the ESRI software stack lead for WDT’s GIS team. This individual will be responsible for leading the GIS team and working with WDT’s other teams to expose WDT’s expansive weather data warehouse as map services to users of ESRI software either directly to consumers or through the ESRI Marketplace. Additionally, the role will lead the development of applications built on the ESRI framework.

Required Knowledge & Skills:

  • Familiarity of ESRI suite of products (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS API for JS)
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Server including Server setup and creating/publishing map services
  • Experience working with vector and raster data sets
  • Working knowledge of Unix, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems
  • Strong geodatabase skills, specifically PostgreSQL
  • Ability to work in teams and individually
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable in leading a small group and comfortable following

Desired Knowledge:

  • ESRI Certified training courses
  • Experience with ArcGIS 10.4+
  • Familiarity with ESRI’s SpatioTemporal BigData Store
  • Experience publishing time-enabled map services

Operational Meteorologist – Marine Focus

WDT is seeking to fill a position for an Operational Meteorologist with a focus on marine forecasting for fixed locations as well as vessel transits. Excellent forecasting and communication skills are required as this role involves handling a wide array of forecasting scenarios (both marine and continental) and client interaction (ranging from emails to conference calls and video briefings) on a daily basis. Candidates for this position must be able to adequately address stressful forecasting situations while consistently meeting deadlines and coordinating with other forecasters on duty. This position requires shift work, including regularly working nights, weekends, and holidays. A passion for weather forecasting is a necessity to succeed in this role, so please emphasize your forecasting skills in your resume, especially any experience related to marine forecasting duties. Entry-level meteorologists are encouraged to apply although some level of initial operational forecasting experience is preferred.

Desired Skills/Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Meteorology with at least four years of operational forecasting experience with significant marine and tropical experience preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of meteorological data and related scientific processes.
  • Outstanding technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal briefing skills along with attention to detail.
  • Advanced understanding of computer hardware and software.
  • Use of AWIPS or AWIPS-II.

GIS Web Application Developer

WDT is seeking a highly motivated, GIS Web Application developer (user application) for WDT’s GIS team. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining GIS frontend applications and working with clients on their integration of WDT services into their ESRI capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement customized GIS web applications for clients using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other web technologies
  • Work closely with other developers and product engineers to design and develop public-facing applications
  • Provide application development estimating, planning, and progress tracking
  • Work closely with other web application developers on other projects within the company to create consistent user experiences
  • Communicate process, design, architecture and look and feel for refinement and thoroughness in establishing plans and products
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with a wide range of stakeholders to design end-to-end experiences
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and trends in the web application and GIS space

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field
  • Two or more years of professional web development experience
  • Experience with industry-standard technologies such as HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, Git, HTML5, Dojo, and/or JavaScript
  • Strong working knowledge of application user interface tools
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

WDT seeks enthusiastic, career-minded, self-motivated individuals to work in a professional business-to-business sales environment as Junior and Senior Business Development Managers.  You will join a sales team responsible for aggressively building revenue in WDT’s WeatherOps and SkyWise product lines.

Requires outbound lead development and cold calling efforts. In addition to responding to customer inquiries, you will also conduct outbound prospecting by creating targeted lists and campaigns to identify and develop a customer base. Successful candidates will have knowledge of sales processes associated with selling software as a service solutions, performing sales of technology-based solutions and a bonus would be experience or knowledge selling weather services in a B2B environment.
